Buttercream Icing Recipe

Preferably using a stand mixer, cream the following ingredients together:
2 cups solid white all-vegetable shortening
2 teaspoons flavoring (butter, vanilla, or almond are popular choices)
3/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt

Then add the dry ingredients below and blend until smooth (roughly 2 minutes):
2 lbs. pure cane confectioner's sugar 10x's powdered
1 tablespoon Meringue Powder


This recipe is ideal for icing cakes. For stiffer icing, best for making flowers and decorations, add more powdered sugar. For softer icing, add more water.
